Nike Air Max LeBron VII NYC Artist Series

Continuing the artist series efforts for LeBron James’ latest signature sneakers, we get a look into the NYC version, created by local artist Tomokazu Matsuyama. Focusing heavily on a reincarnation theme, Matsuyama encrusted 700 Swarovski crystals into a pair of the kicks, following a Japanese Bubbhist-inspired design utilizing the numbers 0, 1, 2, 3, and 4.

The numbers “0″ and “1″ relate to birth and reincarnation in the Japanese Buddhist tradition, with the number “4″ traditionally symbolic of the world “perish”. Interconnected by thin lines, the numbers come to represent the order and chaos of life, connection with others and ultimately reincarnation. The one-of-a-kind design has more that 700 Swarovski crystals individually affixed to the shoes. The crystals represent the Asian philosophy “Gyokuseki-Konko”, implying that life is an amalgamation of rocks and jewels. These crystals also capture the aesthetic of eternity and the minimal beauty of the reincarnation concept.

Acapulco Gold: Interview with Augie Galan & Geoff Heath

For many who have emerged from New York’s trailblazing Supreme, inevitably the skate brand has opened the doors to many as well as adequately preparing departing associates for any future initiatives. One brand that perhaps holds the most weight in recent times is Acapulco Gold who have developed quite a following and platform for their movement. Beyond just their flagship Acapulco Gold brand, founders Augie Galan and Geoff Heath have created a dynamic environment and helped foster a positive landscape for skateboarding. In addition, their own cultural driver, Run My Game has provided a proper medium for their various brands as well as an outlet for relevant skate news. We caught up with the two as they offer us a comprehensive look into their past experiences at Supreme to starting a new brand and the current New York skate scene.

LOST FOOTAGE OF THE ADVENTURES OF BROADWAY!!!

While toys have arguably been the focal point of the Michael Lau Gardener 10th Exhibition, Michael Lau has more up his sleeve as we unveil his collaboration Nike on one of Nike SB’s newest models, the Zoom Janoski. Exactly in-line with Lau’s theme for this collection of toys, the upper is constructed in a wood pattern similar to his previous Nike SB Dunk Low from a few years ago. The shoe will release on October 3rd, 2009 during the last day of the exhibition.
